I have been a photographer for many years. For so long, in fact, that I can no longer imagine my life without a camera to capture its special moments. It took me quite some time before I was able to connect myself to being an artist, because in my mind a photographer and an artist were two distinctly different things. While they were both creative, they used entirely different processes to achieve their artistic goals. Over time, however, I have recognized the remarkable similarities in the way that we look at visual elements such as composition, colors, lines, and light. This is one of my favorite gator images. It makes me smile every time I look at it. Thank you so much to the buyer in Albany, LA, for your purchase. I hope it brings you smiles, too.

There is something very special about this great, rugged beast languorously dipping his claw tips as if delicately testing the water temp! On the more aesthetic side, the play of diagonals in this composition add tremendously to the overall success of this shot. And if that is not enough then we are also presented with several lovely textures and patterns too! Awesome!

That was a fun day at Gatorland Rookery in Orlando, FL. They were all over the place. We (a group of photographers) were able to get in at 7 a.m. All baby birds and hatchlings were everywhere ... and so were the gators. I had no idea what kind of sound they could make. It sounded like there were a hundred bulldozers trying to clear the place, but it was the gators. Yes, they are incredible creatures.

LOL How laid back is he? What a lovely shot of a really cool creature! These creatures are timeless. Love them.
