In 2004, I was at an event for veterans and was talking with some of the military wives. It came up in the conversation that they did not see a lot written about wives, spouses and families of soldiers and what they go through from day to day. Shortly after that, I wrote the poem called Prayer From A Soldier's Wife and added it to a photograph that I had taken of a bunch of American flags. We will always be indebted and forever grateful to the men and women who serve our country. Let us not forget the families who also sacrifice through the service of their loved ones.

Thank you, Debra. I wrote this poem after a very dear friend of mine and I were talking about how much the family goes through when their loved one is serving. My heart goes out to all of them.
