Beautiful sunset silhouettes flock of birds flying in the sky, Several years ago, a dear friend at my church passed away. He was an older gentleman who was dealing with a lot of physical pain. I wrote this poem to give to his family hoping to bring them some peace during their time of mourning. This image of the sunset seemed to be the perfect background for his Message From Heaven.
I have been a photographer for many years. For so long, in fact, that I can no longer imagine my life without a camera to capture its special moments. It took me quite some time before I was able to connect myself to being an artist, because in my mind a photographer and an artist were two distinctly different things. While they were both creative, they used entirely different processes to achieve their artistic goals. Over time, however, I have recognized the remarkable similarities in the way that we look at visual elements such as composition, colors, lines, and light. I have come to understand that what constitutes fine art stands apart from whatever techniques that we artists use to ultimately reach that special place. My...

Wonderful! Congrats on your sale!!
Carolyn Marshall replied:
Thank you, Terry. The poem has been read at several funerals to give some peace to family and friends. It's such a blessing to be a part of that.

You are so sweet, Cindy. Not sure why my images aren't showing in your activity stream. I had noticed I wasn't getting many comments lately. Wonder if it is happening to others who are watching me, too.
Carolyn Marshall
Really appreciate your kind comments, Darlene. Thank you.

Thank you so much, Janie. Yes, I could picture Joe up in heaven looking down at the scene in the poem when I read it at his service. Had it personalized with his name. Changed it for this purpose thinking that someone else may find some peace in it, too.

Carolyn this absolutely beautiful! The birds the vision. I am sure the family will treasure it.

I see now after uploading this image that the text font is difficult to read on the viewable size. So I thought I'd put the words here, so you can read what the poem says. I dreamed I was in a garden, such beauty beyond compare. I knew at once it was Heaven; the fragrance of angels was there. I walked down a road paved with roses, and sensed I was not alone. I turned around and saw Jesus; He stretched out His arms and said “Come”. I’ll show you the way to my Father, you just need to take my hand. There’s only one path to His Kingdom, and I’m here to escort you in. I said, Dear Lord, I can’t go there; I’m not worthy, my life’s full of sin. But He smiled and said “All’s forgiven”, my blood covered you, I’m the Lamb. As we walked arm in arm toward the Master, I heard crying through clouds far below. He showed me where many were gathered, to mourn for the loved one they’d known. I watched as they laughed and remembered those stories of me held so dear. They honored the life that I lived there, and sang with sweet praise through their tears. I wanted to reach down and touch them, to fill their hearts with His Light. My Savior said “We must move on now”; so, I whispered this prayer of goodbye. “Please cry no more for me children, my pain is all gone and I’m free. I’m singing and dancing with Jesus, one day you will share this with me!” (Copyright 2008 - Carolyn L. Marshall)
