Maybe a bit before my time, but I still like the retro 50's icons.

Carolyn Marshall replied:

Heather, I was just a kid during the 50s, but have fond memories of some of these wonderful times. You can't help but smile when you think of the drive-in food places where the waitresses actually served you on roller skates (not blades, LOL!) It was a fun time for sure.

Yeah, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw him. Gosh, does it make you feel old when you can actually remember "being there" as opposed to just seeing the pictures of it and imagining what it was like. :-)

I remember him :) Sweet childhood, (and grown-up), memories...Great shot, Carolyn!

Artist's Description

I remember my high school years driving down what was called hamburger row or hamburger lane. It was the section of town that had nothing but places to get a quick bite to eat. Some would drive-thru and get hamburgers, milkshakes, and other great food to go. But the best memories were made by those who parked. Food would be brought out to you on the classic drive-in trays that rested on your car window. Lots of kids would meet after school or in the evening just to hang out together. It took me quite some time before I was able to connect myself to being an artist, because in my mind a photographer and an artist were two distinctly different things. While they were both creative, they used entirely different processes to achieve their artistic goals. I have come to understand that what constitutes fine art stands apart from whatever techniques that we artists use to ultimately reach that special place. My...
